The S3 Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Rodolfo Sosa and Irma "Mimi" Sosa (Leyva) by empowering high school students from families affected by cancer. Rodolfo and Irma, who passed away in 2009, instilled in their three children—Gloria E. Barrera (Sosa), Rodolfo A. Sosa, and Dariela L. Sosa—the profound value of education.
In their memory, their children established the S3 Foundation to continue their parents' legacy. The foundation provides annual scholarships to support students in pursuing higher education despite the challenges they face.
Funds raised through events such as the 'Sosa Trot 5K Run/Walk' contribute directly to these scholarships. This event is a tribute to Rodolfo Sosa’s distinguished career as a horse trainer and owner, reflecting his lifelong connection to horses. Rodolfo and Irma’s dedication to education was exemplified by their use of their horses' earnings to ease the financial burden for their eldest daughter's college education. Following their parents' passing, Rudy and Dot also pursued a higher education immediately after high school.
Through its efforts, the S3 Foundation aims to provide hope and financial assistance to students, helping them achieve their academic dreams and carry forward the legacy of Rodolfo & Irma.
